Arrival Game (Aggression in focus)
This traditional arrival activity is set to start for as soon as players start to arrive, giving a fun football environment within which we can start to apply learnings. The skill focus for this session is aggression fundamentals.
Key Points
- Setup: 10 x 15m pitch
- Players: 2-13
- Objectives: Football rules
- Rules:
- Don't let your opponents have it easy. Pressure them and be physical with them. Make them scared to receive the ball when you are playing against them.
- Toughen up. Be fearless. Don't be afraid to put your body on the line. If you get knocked down, get back up. It may seem harsh BUT some players need to hear it; there is no crying in soccer. Only, if you lose the world cup final.
- Don't ever give up. The worst thing you can do is walk after you lose the ball. If you get beat or lose possession, work even harder to win it back.
- Get lower to the ground with a strong athletic stance when you close, defend, and shield the ball. This will allow you to change direction quicker if you have to and protect the ball more effectively. Don't get pushed around
