Positional Mastery Match

This drill is designed to instil positional awareness, discipline, and an understanding of team structure in young players. Using a 9-a-side formation, this drill incorporates numbered mats on the pitch, each representing the specific positions 1 through 9. Players wearing the same colour bibs occupy these positions, adhering closely to their designated mats to learn the nuances of their roles. The opposition, wearing different colour bibs, will always be outnumbered, possibly with a coach participating to balance the play. This setup promotes learning through active participation in a game-like scenario, allowing players to experience positional play realistically.
